Coaxed myself out of bed around 4am, and was treated to a lightshow! Many of these images have high light pollution and the aurora had no problem shining right through. The curtains were spectacular. I think the sun IS waking up :D Couldn't believe the color on some of the images, all out of the camera raw. Watched them until the sunlight wiped them out. 5dMii 14mm f2.8 varying iso and shutter speed.

Stayed up all night waiting under a perfect clear sky for the Auroras and got to see a perfect multicolored display that lit up the sky just after 4:00 AM. I had to stop as the sun started to come up and wash out the Auroras.

i'm over the polar circle at the moment, in northern Russia, Kola peninsula. I've been taking so many pictures of auroras, but this year is starting really good, some amazing displays, even a huge meteor a few weeks ago..really happy

Another great night in Abisko!! Some friends of ours from Germany were here hoping to catch a glimpse of their first auroras..they were not disappointed. As the sun was setting we saw the first lights of the night, an hour later as the sun was rising we saw the last big eruption of the evening. Tonight is the end to another great aurora season here in Abisko. I cant wait to see what the next year will bring!! Shot with a Nikon D7000, Tokina 11-17 2.8 ISO 1250, 5 -7 second exposures.

It's been a very good week for auroras! The sky lit up in a spectacular display about 1:20 this morning and was quite active for about an hour. There where swirls, curtains, long rays, coronas and pulsating auroras all making for a rewarding night of sky watching. Canon D7 and Canon T1i.
