magnetic field on Feb. 18th, creating solar wind conditions favorable
to polar auroras. The display continued off and on for more than

I thought it was just another boring night! But luckily I was wrong. So I had to grab my gear and run for the car. Drive out to Ersfjordbotn to shoot the aurora.
This wasn't so fast moving but rather sluggish. Still great to watch. It was a bit windy so the lens was quickly covered with snow

Another great night in Abisko!! The only word I can use to describe what we saw tonight is incredible!! I consider myself a seasoned aurora watcher but tonight I was really something special!! The auroras started early and continued all throughout the night. Shot with a Nikon D7000, Tokina 11/16 2.8, 1600 ISO and varying exposure times.

We were treated to a beautiful display of Northern Lights this evening - right over our base at the Vasatokka Nature Resort and Youth Hoilday Centre in Inari, Northern Lapland.
The display lasted for a good hour and the movement in the Aurora was splendid - curtains, spirals, ribbons - the works.
Camera equipment used - Canon EOS 5D MkII camera, Canon EF 24mm f / 1.4 lens.
Settings: ISO 400-640, Shutter speed 2s - 15s at f/1.6
