Spent 5 hours waiting for the aurora in -10 degrees celsius - and it finally delivered. Superb show for about 15 minus, then it went quiet again. The moon really contributed making the scene rather picturesque.

Active aurora could be seen in the twilight as early as 15:30 UT. Despite temperatures as low as -25C I watched this display up until Midnight when cloud finally covered the sky; there were several active periods ranging in length from a few minutes to half an hour.

I was surprised that I saw such beautiful northern lights. The moon was nearly full.

About half an hour display of auroras. We were lucky it was a clear night after a lot of snowing.

The geomagnetic storm failed to ignite a big display between the snowshovers tonight. Only brief sparks of light danced across the skies.

Playing with the Stars: Surfing between an almost full moon and a next snowfall, the Auroras Borealis took some time to rollick on Umea.
