from
Mark
Conner of the Meteorological
Satellite Applications Branch, Air Force Weather Agency:
"This
is a mosaic of DMSP F16 data for the evening of 9 November
(10 Nov between 00 and 04 UTC) over North America, showing
the auroral extent at that time. The light wispy bands and
swirls are the aurorae. There is enough moonlight available
to show some cloud details, and the city lights shine brightly
in clear areas."
