Last night was the clearest in a whole week, but an hour or so before daybreak, it clouded up. A small clearing appeared in the East about 15 minutes after sunrise. The eclipse was already past its 74% maximum by then, but it was still beautiful.

Solar eclipse during totality. The temperature dropped from 96.6F (at the start) to 88.5F (at totality). The roosters were crowing and the streetlights came on.

I took these
images of the eclipse from our rooftop in Chennai, India.
In our location we could only see the partial eclipse, and
it was cloudy, so I wasn't sure if I would be able to capture
anything - but when I came downstairs to process the images,
I was pleasantly surprised.

The longest solar eclipse of the century was only partially visible from Baguio, Philippines but never-the-less an awe inspiring spectacle under bright sunny skies.
