Details:
I scoped out a perfectly fruitful location for observing this event, and the skies cooperated. I used an 11-stop-max variable ND filter on my Nikon D90 70-300mm kit zoom lens, which Ive been really impressed with. Taken at 100 ISO in the f/8 - f/11 range, around 1/3200sec shutter speed, depending on how low the Sun was positioned. I have more images on Facebook under Geoff Horner PhotoArt, website coming soon.
