Details:
This monster sunspot is still very active, with bright faculae extending perhaps 100,000 kilometers to the right in this photo. My Pensacola State College astronomy class watched it erupt at 10 AM CDT on Tuesday, July 17th with a Coronado 60. Photo taken with Olympus D-595, 3X optical zoom, 17mm Plossl eyepiece, ISO 200, 1/500th second exposure.
