Details:
I was lucky to spend the night of the Perseid showers maximum under a very dark sky in the hills near the village of Bakonybel where the sky quality is marked with an observatory built not long ago mostly for astro-touristic purposes. Near the edge of the village gentle slopes of the hills covered with forest and meadows were a perfect background for the observation. The only noise was made by the breeze and the activity of nocturnal animals. I set my camera looking to a meadow and the sky above it and not much time was needed to the start of the show. As it got dark the meteors came, in clusters as usual. The activity was the highest here from 0 AM to 2 AM UT. The crescent Moons light was not disturbing at all, it gave a gentle illumination to the landscape and still the Milky Way remained bright on the SW sky. The red-green colouration of the Perseid meteors were beautiful, even the less bright ones had a sparkling green trail, the brightests trail remained persistant for 5-10 seconds.
It was a very spectacular shower this year with good conditions and gave superb and never to forget experience!
I subit some bright Perseids and a composite of the two best hours of the shower containing 15 Perseids.
