Details:
The morning of peak Perseid activity,August 12, was cloudy in Brooklyn. Although dismayed, I didnt give up. The following morning proved to be a winner, with clear skies. I went onto the roof of my apartment building with my son Kialash, at 4:00AM. We were immediately treated to a beautiful view of the crescent Moon, Venus, and Jupiter. I viewed my fist meteor, a large fireball, just above the horizon a few minutes later. I wasnt able to catch the meteor in the frame, but my luck would change at 4:50AM. I caught two meteors in the vicinity of Betelgeuse, the red supergiant. One was to the left, and the other almost speared it down the middle. An amazing view to behold!
