Details:
The early morning started out with an almost perfectly clear blue sky. As the day wore on, numerous commercial jets passed over the area. This led to the usual jet contrail after contrail, however, this time, the contrails never dissipated, they just fanned out due to the weak atmospheric winds. By the afternoon, the sky was completely overcast due solely to the expansion of the contrails in the atmosphere. What an amazing sight as the entire sky was overcast from horizon to horizon simply because of high altitude jet traffic. The slightly lower light conditions because of it are even noticed in, among other things, the shading or the afternoon light in the pictures. It remained overcast throughout the night also, ruining my observing session. Oh, well, thats progress.
