Details:
Just after photographing Comet 168P/Hergenrother with my Meade LX-5 telescope I began to do some post-processing of an Andromeda set. While doing so I happened tove checked Spaceweather.com and saw the Kp-index was at a 6, so I headed out to the deck with my camera. Sure enough, not only did my Nikon D5100s sensor pick the aurora up, but I was able to faintly see them with my own eyes! The reds were subued due to the light of the full moon, but it was worth the check of Spaceweather.com to capture this!

An added meteor bonus in the last frame!

Photos taken from northeast of the city of Shelton in the great state of Washington!

30second exposures @ ISO6400.

Correction! Light of the full moon should read light of the waning quarter moon.
