Finally a night of bright aurora with clear skies without a full moon! Visually the display was breathtaking, animated and incredibly bright; no flashlight required to walk the banks of the Rainy River. I guess you could call these International Aurora as the Canada/USA border runs down the centre of the Rainy River. I noticed the display just before midnight and I completely lost track of time as it was 4:45 a.m. when I finally returned to the house. The coyotes were actually what sent me packing as their yipping and howling was getting closer! I had my bear spray with me as bear and wolf tracks are also visible in the sand of the river banks during the day.

I used an 8mm Sigma fisheye with a Canon 7D as the aurora covered so much of the sky. Very little processing has been done with these photos other than some noise reduction and image scaling.

Cheers!
