Details:
Comet Hergenrother is currently experiencing an outburst. The weather finally improved enough for me to locate and image the comet last night. Using published RA/Dec coordinates, I was able to easily spy the comet through my 8-inch SCT at 80x and 120x. The comet exhibited a diffuse bright coma sporting a short stubby fan tail with an estimated brightness around 9th magnitude. The comet was located to the south and west of a chain of stars leading away from the star Alpheratz.

This is an easy comet to see with a 6-inch telescope or larger. Take a look before it fades!

Imaged through an 8-inch SCT, f/6.3 focal reducer with a Canon T2i. ISO 3200, 17 x 25-second exposures, guided, stacked.
