Leonid Meteor Shower 2012 Final Count here in Dayton, Ohio - 84 meteors captured over 3 nights!
Despite the low numbers experienced by observers during this years Leonid Meteor shower, My video cameras captured 84 meteors from my backyard observatory in Dayton, Ohio USA.
My night sky video camera network ran for 3 nights, the evening of November 16 through the morning of the 19th of November 2012. The 50 second video clip shows meteors burning up over head and then it changes view starting to look east showing many bright Meteors, 32 seconds into the video you can see an amazingly bright -8 Fireball burn up over my neighbors house! I also placed the -8 fireball image at the end of the video clip. We must have gone through a lighter debris trail of Comet Temple-Tuttle. Normally the Leonid shower produces 100+ meteors per hour, but this years shower was on the light side, but still worth watching. here is the youtube link to the 50 second Video clip of all 84 meteors burning up! http://youtu.be/xkffoNDmBeE
