Details:
Some nice aurora borealis seen and photographed from the northbound Hurtigruten vessel MS Nordnorge between Rørvik and Sandsnessjøen. Two great norther light displays in the night from Dec 9 to Dec 10. The first very dynamic display was around 23:10 CET on Dec 9, which ended with the aurora becoming more and more diffuse and faint. After a break the show continued between 2:00 und 3:00 CET on Dec 10. The aurora oval shone very brightly on the norther horizon and showed fast moving curtains for about 20 minutes. Afterwards, it became dimmer, diffuse, and more extended again.

Photo details: Canon EOS 7D, mostly at 3200 and 6400 ISO, with Tokina 11-16 mm lens (f/2.8) and Walimex 8 mm fisheye (f3.5), exposure times 10 - 25 seconds.
