Details:
My meteor report from last night. It was a nice one with
faint meteors and a small sprinkle of bright ones.
As I EXPECTED.. they acted like the Perseids.. in spurts!
There were 2 Earth grazers at the begining.
My photos were poor for some reason, caught a few but they did not
look as good as I had hoped. The attached was the only one that
looked so-so. As you can see Orion...look to the lower left for the small
trail :( rest were faint and well, bad night capturing any bright ones.
Begin: 8:00pm
End: 3:00am
saw a total from my balcony of 30 meteors
At start of session the first two Geminids were Earthgrazers.
One was a small green ball like, about 1/8th Moon diameter but no
smoke trail and fell in SSW went about 35 degrees long.
2nd Geminid was white and overhead about 40 degrees long.
Of course they were both out of my camera field!
Canon 350D with lens at 40mm, f/5, 800 ISO and 20 sec. exposure.
