Details:
After a long period without any new solar flares erupting from the sun ...what seemed like weeks, even with all the clear nights we have been having the lack of any northern lights in the skies at night was beginning to look strange. After all this was supposedly a peak season for aurora viewing. It appears the lights have been making their appearance later at night than usual as these photos were taken between 4:30am MST and 6am, but come out they did with all there majestic might !! Although it was quite cold ( in the minus 40C range ) the lack of wind allowed shooting without too much discomfort ;)
