Details:
The sky had cleared nicely and the temperature dropped down to between -25c and -30c. I wasnt really expecting to see much, but decided to walk down by the lake anyhow and check the sky - and was pleasantly suprised. The auroras were still fairly low to the northern horizon, forming mainly a nice smooth arc at first. A little later the arc even had some spikes rising up out of it. The moon never rose until the wee hours of the morning, so the sky was beautifully dark and crisp for my whole session.

Shot with a Pentax K-5 with 14mm lens. The star trails shot is an exposure of about 47.3 minutes, taken at 11:56pm Feb. 1, 2013. The final image was captured at around 1:42am Feb. 2, 2013.
