On the night to feb 13th I climbed above the city of Tromsø, northern Norway. This is one out of many panorama shots I created that evening. The weather forecast was very good with clear skies all night. But in the afternoon there came some frost-fog in over the city, which nobody had anticipated. So there I was on my way up with 25kg on my back, wondering weather I should turn around and go down again. But when I climbed through the fog, a fantastic sight met me. Auroras dancing over a frost-fog covered city. This was not what I wanted, but it looked really cool. Still, I wanted to get auroras over the city wihtoug fog so I decided to wait. After 4 hours in the cold the fog startet to dissolve, and at the same time auroral activity was picking up, giving me the opportunity to do my shot! The auroras was not moving very fast, but they were formed of massive arcs and bends going all over the city, from east (right in pic) to west (left in pic) which was perfect for doing panorama shots of auroras, which is not easy.
