University of Western Ontario
Meteor Network, near Lake Erie

This image shows the same
meteor recorded by six different cameras at widely-spaced
locations. Bill Cooke of the Marshall Space Flight Center
explains:
"The University of Western Ontario
operates a network of 8 all-sky cameras, which are identical
in design to those deployed by the NASA Meteoroid Environment
Office, and also makes use of the same software to detect
meteors," says Cooke. "This particular event,
which occurred at approximately 9:59 PM Eastern on August
8th, was seen by 6 of the stations and is a confirmed Perseid.
It was first detected at an altitude of 75 miles over Lake
Erie (near the city of Erie, in fact), and moved southwest
towards the state of Ohio at 130,000 mph. Note the radical
change in appearance and direction from station to station."

the
Perseids started to show around 1am in a misty Wiltshire.
I counted 28 over the whole sky from 1am to 4am. One was
extremely bright and easily visible through the light pollution
from the nearby town. Pentax ist dl. 18mm lens. ISO 1600.
