I drove to the southwest of Topeka this evening and watched the sun set in a very clear sky - it could not have been better for the one-day-old moon sliding up beneath Mercury and Jupiter. The third image has faint streaks between Mercury and Jupiter - due to the trailed movement of flocks of birds. In the fourth image, the birds have moved closer to the horizon, and the Moon's crescent has developed a bit of a kink. Canon Rebel XTi with 85 and 135mm Nikkor lenses @ f/5.6; exposures range from 1/2 to 5 seconds at ISO 100.
