Home near De Soto, Kansas.
As twilight deepened on this Thanksgiving evening, my family and I watched two bright points of light pass high overhead, marvelling over the fact that human beings were inside those lights. I am thankful for the scientists, engineers and technicians comprising NASA and other agencies that have made the adventure in space real for the past half century. My life changed forever the day I heard a man speak from the surface of the moon, "Houston, Tranquility base here - the Eagle has landed." I continue to hope that before I leave this world I will one day hear words something like this: "Citizens of Earth, Arabia base here - Mars 1 has landed."
