A cold, clear night on the Greenland ice cap with auroras streaming across the sky. The building shown is the "big house", the main gathering place, kitchen, and communications center of Summit Station. The moon was shining directly into the lens, causing a bit of flare. Below the moon, the distant light coming from the ice (approx. 1km) is the door to an atmospheric research lab buried 10m beneath the snow. Nikon D70s, ISO 1000, 20 second exposure, f3.5, 18-70mm lens set at 18mm, -44C, 10 frozen fingers.
