Brilliant Venus and a crescent moon collaborated within 7 degrees of one another in the southwest sky around 6:10 PM CST, Thursday, January 26, 2012. Cloud cover that had dissipated around 5:00 PM was beginning to return at this hour and is seen along the horizon. These two images are four-second exposures shot at f/8, 800 ISO, 24mm focal length, Nikon D5000 DSLR camera.
