Details:
I was photographing star trails in Marion, Iowa when I noticed what looked like a bank of clouds low on the northern horizon after 9:00 PM, Saturday, February 18, 2012. There were some isolated cirrus clouds passing overhead but this scene appeared considerably removed from that. Upon returning home I logged on to spaceweather.com and noticed how far south the aurora oval was. With reports of auroral displays from neighboring states, I'm wondering if this image shows one too. Nikon D5000 DSLR. 25 second exposure at f/4.5, 640 ISO.
