Taken 2010/01/05 17:10 UT, Orion ED 80 refractor, Lunt B600 Ca-K Line filter, DMK AU02.AS. Largest prominence is approximately 156,000 miles long and projects up to 44,000 miles above the visible surface of the sun. The smaller prominence to the north that appears detached is 77,000 miles long and extends up to 38,000 miles above the visible solar surface. Both are just north of facular remnants of AR 1035.
