Clear skies in the northern region of South Africa and comet C/2011 W3 (Lovejoy) was again visible with the naked eye, but only just. Keep thumbs crossed for clear skies tomorrow morning (23rd December). The thin sliver of the waning crescent Moon joins Mercury (separation of just over 2º) and Antares with comet Lovejoy 16º to the right of the syzygy, as it heads towards zeta 1 & 2 Scorpii and the nebulosity surrounding Scorpius Table.
