Dear Tony, I'm stargazer since about 20 years, but I've never seen such a slim crescent! I saw it tonight, at 7:33 PM UT, when the Moon was only 15 hours and 38 minutes old. The phase was 0.7 %! It finally appeared through my binoculars in a cloud hole, at an elevation of 1°53'. And after 20 years of preparation, I was ready to capture it! Photo details : Canon 30D + Sigma 100-300 EX + Tripod. 1/4 at f/8. 400 ISO.
