Few days ago I drove to Marine Headlands to see Golden Gate Bridge popping up from Marine layer. I saw more than I bargain for. Just below me there was a ghostly tree with beautiful crepuscular rays. Never before I've seen those particular rays. I sent the image to Dr. Andy Young. Here's what he writes:
"...it's unusual to see these shadows so clearly at such an oblique
geometry: usually, the crepuscular rays are best seen in forward
scattering, and much less well in back-scattering. But here, you're
looking almost at right angles to the illuminating rays."
