It was my first attempt to photograph a small spacecraft at a lunar distance. Was approx magnitude 16.5, with around 30% illumination. The spacecraft is seen passing galaxy IC3808. Used my 16" f/8.9 + CCD. Each frame was 60seconds in length. Amateurs with modest equipment should be able to capture LCROSS during its cruising orbits over the next several months before it impacts into the moon.
