Our overwintering at the German Antarctic Research Station Neumayer III has just begun. We were watching a movie, well aware of the fact, that our planet's magnetic field was disturbed. All of a sudden our meteorologist comes in and shows us a picture of our webcam, which showed a beautiful band of auroras. We rushed outside and experienced our first auroras of the season and even of our lives with green and red lights dancing across the moonlit sky. A scene that we will never forget!
