Today we had the rare opportunity to see space shuttle Discovery in flight, low and close over North Central Texas skies, as Discovery approached for her second landing in Texas today. We were positioned close enough to the flight path that my wife and I felt we could almost reach out and touch Discovery, as she flew in on final approach to touchdown at Carswell Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base in Ft. Worth, Texas. This is a truly amazing sight to see in the air, with Discovery flying in on the back of the specially modified 747! With only 6 more missions currently scheduled, we felt very fortunate to get such a close look at Discovery in her return flight to home to the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. We arrived early enough to also see the Pathfinder aircraft, leading the way for Discovery, as it landed several minutes ahead of Discovery.
