Details:
The Arizona monsoon has finally ended, and we are back full force to getting deep sky and comet images here in Payson and Happy Jack. This image was taken this morning with my big scope and CCD, and is over an hour exposure combined. The comet was faintly but distinctly visible in 8x50 binoculars. This is the first time I had seen it visually. Tail is around 1/4 degree still, and the head is around mag 9 or so. For this image, multiple short exposures in the Luminance and RGB data were aligned on the comets nucleus to keep the comet sharp, with trailed stars. Here is the full data: 12.5" f/5 homebuilt newtonian ST10xme CCD, Astrodon color filters 1h 15m total integration time with color data From Payson, Az taken on October 4th, 2013

These are images that speak of reality and truth, not those (pretty pictures) where you can see both the pinpoint stars that the comet fixed in the sky! These last images are a fake, rebuilt processed on the computer, an image overlay and especially without relevance to space and time in a scientific sense. I wonder why we continue to prefer these falsehoods to scientific astronomical reality!? You want to leave alone astrophotography ... even if scholars-scientists prefer the models to beautiful women! Chris you are a real, free astro, which does not chase fads, and false! Great work! - Dr Paolo Candy -
