Jan 15, 2010, an annular solar eclipse occurred in the sky. I took this picture at the lakeside of Weishan Lake, Shandong Province, China. The maximum eclipse occurred at 16:55 local time, and the Sun's altitude was only 4.3 degree, so I could take the eclipse and the lake at one picture. There was a lot of cloud in the sky, but fortunately the cloud could permeate some sunshine, so finally I took this picture. In this picture, the golden ring was very beautiful, and the freezing lake seemed very quiet.

A nice partial eclipse was viewed today at sunrise and my observing site was at Cape Sounio, Greece, with the ancient Greek temple of Poseidon in the field. Prominent sunspots were visible in the sun's disk during the eclipse.

We were so lucky to witness the eclipse today while the sky was cloudy the whole week. I used Sky Watcher 80 mm telescope to capture this photo. A giant sunspot is also visible in the photo. Although only 8% of the sun's surface was covered by the moon, but, as you can see in the second picture, it didn't stop people from enjoying the sky show.

Today's annular eclipse was visible as partial from parts of Europe. Here are some images captured at Sounion , Greece, with the ancient Greek temple of Poseidon as foreground. Despite clouds and a dazzling sun the eclipse was beautiful!

Took the annular eclipse using a Canon DSLR camera with an X-ray film. The side of the film provided the best contrast for the shot.
